Carton Palletizing

Challenge
This wrapping paper manufacturer had an extreme case of high variety, low lot size manufacturing. At any given time, 8 different products were being produced, each with a different carton size. As an additional challenge, the cartons were required to be stacked on their short end.

Solution
Two robotic palletizing systems were deployed, each packing 4 different products at one time. Each system can handle the complete range of carton sizes, allowing the customer complete flexibility in mixing and matching plant production. On-the-fly product switching between products allowed this agile system to be a true zero-changeover solution.
